So, someone has suggested that everyone pile into the chat room and be silly. That's all well and good, but has anyone noticed that there doesn't seem to be a chat room on CoolRunning? What to do? What to do?
Doin' it the IRC way
Here's the deal: Boomers participants are using a chat protocol called IRC. It was around long before Yahoo or MSN Messenger, but is the same basic idea.
- In any IRC program (mIRC is a good one for Windows, MustangSally uses the ChatZilla extension for Firefox
- You can follow these instructions but instead of using#Oncomputers use #coolrunning as the room.
- You can also get to the server this way from the status window
/server chat.oncomputers.info:7000 then hit enter
then when it connects /join #coolrunning and hit enter
What about the Mac people?
Here is an article about different Mac IRC clients. It seems that many people use ircle.
A new idea to try
It looks as if pbwiki includes a chat widget. Maybe we could play with this.
