Boomer Mixes
Intro
- Several enterprising Boomers have assembled mixes of their favourite music for our collective enjoyment. Please note that these mix files are hugh. You might check your network's throughput before putting them through your corporate firewall. Not that I'd know about this or anything. -Ed.
- You'll want to right-click on the link for the mix and save it to your local "My Music" (or other OS equivalent) folder.
By our majuscule-impaired astronomer
- solarmix1 playlist1 anger scale: mellow, mix with hits, worldbeat
- solarmix2 playlist2 anger scale: maximal; music from satan himself*
- solarmix3 playlist3 anger scale: mellow; punk rock girls go surfing
- solarmix4 playlist4 anger scale: mellow; all MC Solaar, french rap
- solarmix5 playlist5 anger scale: mellow; mix of classical music
- solarmix6 playlist6 instigated by egret, morphed into rock and roll phoenix music.
- solarmix7 playlist7 very very mellow; injury comeback music. all female vocals remixed or set to trip-hop beats; nora jones, ella fitzgerald and some international greats.
- solarmix8 playlist8 high energy seattle grunge-mix, inspired by sans souci; you may never need caffeine again. almost all the energy of solarmix2, with only 10% of the evil
- solarmix9 playlist9 about 70 min of 70's soul and funk, loosely lyric-ed with positive running messages, so tell me something good everyday people, and don't you worry about a thing, 'cause baby there ain't no mountain high enough...
- solarmix10 playlist10 running in the desert...
- solarmix11 playlist11 this one is short and sweet. jpgarland posted something about running to the soundtrack of endurance (disney movie about haile geb... see it if you haven't!) so i got the idea of putting together a bunch of movie sountracks. only 40 minutes... mostly good movies, some cheesy ones, but good, mostly orchestral, music throughout. (hey, by the way, this is an olympic year... this will help get you in the mood...)

jjchaney, April 11, 2007:
Oh mc mc. I don't know what to say. My workout called for a 25 minute warm up then 6 x 400 meter repeats. I loaded the solarmix2 and solarmix3 to my iPod Shuffle. Right out of the gate I hit the solarmix2. I first have to say that I am a big Nine Inch Nails fan and appreciate heavier stuff, but WOW!!!! Speed Metal with Cookie Monster Vocals were screaming at me within 1 minute of the run. My first mile came at me in 6:49. SLOW DOWN!!!!
No such luck. At around the 2.5 mile mark I found myself either air drumming or laughing out loud at my reaction to the music. I looked like a lunatic with headphones....but I couldn't stop listening to see what was next. Your mix truly fueled my run and I kept having to slow down. I got through my repeats and made the smart choice to switch to the surf music for my cool down.
Thanks for taking the time to a) put the mix together and b) post them. I will make sure NOT to bring this music with me to Boston, otherwise someone might get hurt.

AAMixes
By an otherwise really nice Wolverine
- AAMix1 Back on the Train: For your next tempo run.
- AAMix2 Travelin' Shoes: eclectic, upbeat music, mostly alternative and folk. Probably the only mix in history to contain both the Hives and the Weavers.
- AAMix3 Elliptronica: dance and electronic music to get you moving.
- AAMix4 We Don't Care About No Government Warning: Upbeat, high-energy eclectic mix.
- AAmix5 TrailMix: Bluegrass to take you into the woods and possibly back again.
