Standing Threads

The Cyclic Threads

There are a few threads floating about that may be of interest.  They are renewed on a periodic basis, some daily, some monthly.  Here's a quick preview.

  • The Daily - One thread (sometimes two, if more than one keener hit the board first thing in the morning) appears each day, in which people (more or less) record their runs.  Runs, and cross-training.  Well, runs, cross-training, and thoughts for the day.  OK.  People post whatever the heck they want to, while maintaining a general sense that this is, after all, a running forum.  It has been known to degrade from sober meditations on the Running Life™ to silliness as the sun sets on the West Coast and certain people start unwinding.  This drives some Texans to unwind themselves.
  • Newbies - a weekly thread that provides a supportive environment for those who are just beginning (or rejuvenating) their running careers.
  •
  • Intrepid Racers - a new thread appears weekly, with a list of Boomers and their planned races, sorted by date.  Add or update your races, and the hostess  will keep the list all tickety-boo.  Race reports are hyperlinked to the list of races from the preceding weekend as they arrive.
  • Boomer Healthy Eating - weekly - more than just weight loss, this thread is about being thoughtful about your nutrition, and about providing a little accountability with your friends.
  • 40/40 - this weekly thread is where those who are (generally) logging 40+ miles per week can post training plans and talk about the week's efforts.
  • Running and X-Training - another weekly thread for the mortals among us.  The general idea is to post and then update weekly training plans as you go.  The host (rotating) adds up the mileage and makes witty comments at the end of the week.
  • 50+ Training and Racing - Monthly.  This thread is somewhat more focused on training.  (The 50+ refers to age, but Lord knows plenty of 'em are running 50+mpw, and many of them aren't quite that old either).  Idle chatter is never discouraged.
  • [Month] Boomer Miles - Monthly.  Tramps collects your mileage for the month and prepares a complete list.  It's amazing to see how much running this group does when you add it all up.

The Evergreens

There are several threads that are Boomers traditions - they've grown for (sometimes) years.

Sometimes, it's hard to find them, so here are links to the threads.  Let's keep an eye on these links:  they may expire over time.
